Advancing Sustainable Innovation: Highlights from the REDONDO Consortium Meeting in Montpellier
The consortium meeting of REDONDO took place in Montpellier, France on September 25th, hosted by the partner CNRS. The primary objective of REDONDO is to develop reversibly cross-linked polyethylene (rPEX) material to further use-case it under two applications: pipes and photovoltaic cables. This material will use innovative green and bio-based additives, which will enable further improvement of desired properties, and adopt Safety-by-Design and Sustainability-by-Design frameworks.
AXIA Innovation presented the progress made during months 18 to 24, focusing on work packages 7 and 8. Work package 7 promptly to start in month 26, has the objective to develop a decision support tool called PLACE-Me tool, which will be a user-friendly web-based platform which will help the user study multi-variant scenarios in the chemical processing field helping the circular economy model.
In work package 8 a comprehensive exploitation plan, particularly emphasizing the intellectual property management and risk analysis was performed. The project now has a clearer understanding of the Key Exploitable Results (KERs) and the intentions of each partner within the value chain regarding the exploitation and protection of these outcomes, particularly in the context of producing reversible cross-linked polyethylene for pipe and cable applications. Additionally, an initial individual business plan was formulated for partners interested in commercially leveraging their innovations. Looking ahead, AXIA will continue refining the exploitation plan, with an increased focus on competitor analysis and market research to further enhance the commercialization potential of the project’s innovations.
The meeting also included a Laboratory visit in CNRS installments and a workshop on the 26th of September where the main topic was to explain more in detail the value of the polymer called polyethylene.
This gathering provided AXIA with a valuable opportunity to actively collaborate with the consortium partners, facilitating meaningful discussions, exchanging key insights, and strategically planning the next steps for future initiatives.
